What do we need to survive?

  • Food
  • Water
  • Oxygen

Those are the basics. We could delve deeper into the Hierarchy of Needs and some Sigmund Freud, but let’s save that for later.

Those first two, though. How common it is for us to mess those up! I’ve worked in the fitness industry for years and the first tip trainers dole out is DRINK MORE WATER. The very first tip! And without asking how much one currently consumes. Just drink more. There was like one article on how someone drank too much water and killed himself and everyone lost their minds and became overly precautious of consuming water. What did not happen–people becoming aware of how much water they should be drinking and making sure they got an adequate amount. Drink water, plain and simple. Not soda, not beer, not coffee, not juice–WATER. Good rule of thumb for this, 1 oz per pound of body weight. Don’t be afraid to overdo. You will start peeing a lot (it should be clear) and that will become annoying enough to scale back way before you cause water intoxication.

Food. We need food to survive! This is something we do every day, several times a day. We do this to survive and yet, we still do not know how to properly fuel our bodies! This is crazy to me. Sometimes we have it so wrong, it is actually harming us and reducing our quality of life. Stop it, people. Let’s get it under control and not only survive but thrive!

Rule of thumb for calorie consumption is 10 kcals for every pound of body weight, so if you weight 150 lbs, you should be eating roughly 1500 kcals per day. Here is where we can still mess it up: what kind of calories are we eating? Sorry, you can’t eat 1500 kcals of Doritos everyday and expect your body to be a lean mean machine. We need nutrients! On the macro level (carbs, fats, proteins) and on the micro level (vitamins and minerals). Getting a good balance is key to leading a healthy lifestyle. Yet, also consuming too much leads to weight gain and a whole host of troubles with that. Same with not getting enough.

It is my mission to help simplify this process for those struggling to obtain and maintain a healthy weight and body image. Do you feel like you are eating healthy and still not seeing and feeling the results you think you should? I can help with that! Schedule you’re personal consultation and we can discuss what balance of nutrients YOU need for YOUR BODY and come up with a meal plan that will be easy for you to stick with based off foods you know you like. Let me help you come up with your own personal plan and survive like no one else!
